Mr. Alexandre Custaud, PPRD Med Deputy Team Leader & Key Expert demonstrated space-based technologies and analytics at the 1st EUROMED Pilot Workshop on Response to Forest and Natural Area Fires in the Southern Mediterranean.
This was the opportunity to present existing initiatives and organizations utilizing space-based technologies, the technologies themselves, the limitations of space-based technologies, emerging technologies such as AI and ML, the necessity for a system of systems approach illustrated by European Space Agency - ESA R3 CSS, and the diverse applications and uses of space-based technologies and analytics for hashtag#wildfire, hashtag#flooding, and hashtag#NATech.
ISTC/Team PPRD Mediterranean is currently deploying cutting-edge technologies to 10 partner countries to prevent, prepare for, and respond to natural and man-made disasters. www.pprdmed.eu

In anticipation of the 2024 summer fire season, this 1st EUROMED pilot workshop, co-organized by the Tunisian National Civil Protection Office, DG ECHO, and the Union for the Mediterranean, was designed to initiate discussions on possible cross-border, sub-regional, and regional response measures to combat forest and natural area fires.
